Medical Repair- Team Leader Southend

Our Southend based client; a well-established manufacturing company are looking to recruit an experienced Team Leader. This is a permanent site-based role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30- 5.00pm. It is not essential that you are from a medical background but is essential that you are familiar with taking and working to technical instructions.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for a team of 6 technicians.

· Taking ownership of the Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery of their team

· Developing your own and the team’s capabilities in order to keep up engagement

· Lead day to day activities for your team

· Resolves first line people management issues

· Responsible for ensuring your team works in a safe and healthy environment

· Ensure compliance with the relevant health, safety and environment procedures including PPE and waste disposal

· Promoting a culture where Accidents, Near Misses, Potential Near Misses are reported and TRACAS are carried out

· Prioritising corrective actions and escalation where required

· Ensure that Risk Assessments are carried out, reviewed and are up to date

· Delivery – to ensure that customer satisfaction is met by delivering the committed repair duration turnaround targets:

· Daily/Weekly expectation setting though communication pyramid

· Reviewing and reporting of local KPIs and put mitigating actions in place if out of limit

· Effective management of staff utilisation and capacity planning including holiday and absence

· Ensuring adherence to Shop Floor Management rules for your area e.g. First In First Out

· Ensure that all team members are operating at the required performance levels by using data to analyse Quality, Delivery and Cost and addressing any issues through expectation setting, feedback, coaching, support and using the company’s My Performance system.

Quality

·
To ensure that the quality of the repair, internally and externally is to the manufacturer’s standard:

· Understands guidelines and ensure areas of responsibility are in compliance ensuring standardisation and reapplication within MRS where possible

· Ensure that team members are following policies and procedures relating to their role, managing issues and escalating more significant issues where appropriate

· Analyse teams quality performance to identify trends, root causes and set objectives or corrective actions to resolve these

· Ensure that tooling and equipment is maintained and calibrated where required

· Cost – to ensure that cost is kept to a minimum in line with the business plan:

· Identify and analyse scrap and risk Loss correctly and work to reduce where possible

· Identify areas of cost saving where possible

· Understanding of cost centres plan and department expenditure

Personal and Team Development:

· Ensure that the team is engaged in the business objectives, so that they understand the relevance of their job role within the business

· Carry out 121s, My Performance Reviews, Team Meetings, Promoting the Global Values

· Resolves first line people management issues e.g. Return to work meetings, attendance meetings, undertaking informal and formal investigation meetings, undertaking appraisals and performance improvement plans (PIPs), referrals to Occupational health, and conducting stress risk assessments

· Development of staff and identifying training needs

· Ensure that morale is positive so that safety, quality, delivery and cost is met

· Development of self and ensure that identified training needs are met

· Creating an inclusive working environment in which a diverse team can grow and succeed

Physical requirements

· Some lifting and manual handling may be required depending on area

· Long periods of sitting or standing may be required

· VDU use

Qualifications

· Clear & concise written and spoken communication skills

· Ability to present information to teams in a clear and engaging way

· Ability to read and understand technical instructions/quality standards/processes

· Ability to identify and use sound criteria for assessing situations
