Policy Advisor Central London £32,000

We are proud to be representing one of the UK's most well-respected membership organisations in the search for an experienced Policy Advisor, ideally from a public affairs background who is passionate about helping to make positive change.

This is an exciting opportunity to help drive policy change with government bodies, union entities and a wide range of business support organisations. You will be complimenting a dedicated team of policy advisors within a larger organisation who collectively support their members, covering a range of issues from immigration to apprenticeships to employment law.

 

You will be a natural communicator who enjoys the challenges of influencing and leveraging opinion for the greater good of the members and one who enjoys political discussion at all levels with MPs and their fellow advisors and other people of influence in the business community.

Main Purpose of the role

 

To identify and understand policy issues affecting members, and make positive changes happen though negotiation with external peers and business entities.

 

To affect change through your ever-evolving knowledge of governance, campaigning, and policy content.

You will be able to communicate members views both internally and externally and build strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including business bodies, think tanks and unions and create workable public policy proposals using feedback from members.

 

 

The essential knowledge and skills needed to perform this role

  • Policy experience with the ability to both analyse and translate complex policy for different audiences and experience of stakeholder management

 

  • Strong verbal, written communication, and project management skills

 

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure to deadlines and manage priorities

 

  • Positive and adaptable approach to problem solving, with the ability to ‘multi-task’

 

  • Innovative and creative mindset with a good attention to detail

 

  • A good understanding of economic forces, market pressures and business priorities

 

  • Flexible approach to dealing with a variety of issues with a genuine interest in policy, politics, and business

 

  • Proven understanding of the policy making process with experience in campaign development

 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a team player ethos

 

  • Natural tenacity to work to get a project completed

 

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
