Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Operations/General Manager with our client based in Rayleigh, Essex.  

This role will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the business, overseeing the daily workings of production, and planning, managing, and implementing schedules to ensure deadlines are met, and maintaining a high-quality level of customer service. 

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Actively pursue company strategic and operational objectives
  • Create operational plans to ensure the sustainability of the business
  • Emphasis on managing the operations function of the company.
  • To be responsible for managing stock controls
  • Lead, coach and manage the operations & customer service function
  • Supporting the production planning process and ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are in place and production targets and objectives are met
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant medical quality standards in line with the internal QMS
  • Have day to day control of financial decision making
  • Complete accountability for all elements of the business

Key Duties:

  • Oversee manufacturing operations, supporting the Production Manager in day-to-day activities and planning requirements
  • Implement and maintain standards (production, productivity, quality, and customer-service)
  • Analyse operations and process workflow to implement continuous improvement
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with key stakeholders (suppliers, distributors, agents, customers, governing bodies, and accreditation bodies)
  • Build an effective people strategy to support the development and succession planning of colleagues, improving colleague capability and retention of staff through effective leadership
  • Help create a detailed production schedule to meet delivery standards by ensuring the production team has capacity to manufacture and deliver products based on customer demands
  • Liaison with the QA/RA Consultant to ensure the Quality Management System is regularly reviewed, updated and compliant with current legislation
  • Facilitate and assist with QMS audits to ensure compliance and accreditation
  • Ensure that Health and Safety is maintained across the whole organisation according to current legislation
  • Ensure the team can manage and deliver products, inventory, and services to customers whilst maintaining organisational standards
  • Define and ensure sales, customer service and purchasing processes are reliable, efficient, and appropriate
  • Manage budgets for new equipment and investment decisions within the office environment
  • Maintain an up to date working knowledge of the Unleashed Inventory system
  • Co-ordinate and oversee the annual stock count

Position Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or possess business equivalent knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and people management skills to attract, motivate, coach, and develop team members.
  • High level of communication and organisational skills for liaison with customers, suppliers, internal staff, and external agencies.
  • High degree of proficiency with software systems e.g., MS Office
  • Knowledge of business process and functions (Finance, HR, Operations etc.)
