Assistant Workshop Manager

Are you experienced in management within a manufacturing environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity working with our client who are a based in Southend as an Assistant Workshop Manager managing the day to day running of the workshop to ensure all production runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:


  • To oversee the allocation of work to production staff, technicians and support/deputise for the Production Manager / Service Operations Manager
  • To progress chase customer repairs and internal loan repairs
  • Perform management support tasks to meet operational requirements
  • Provide direct technical support to all workshop staff
  • Provide assistance to Support Specialists & Field Service Engineers
  • Monitoring of technician productivity is support of customer asset uptime
  • Lead weekly status figures and review meetings
  • Liaise with the Customer Care Centre to provide focused support to customers
  • Provide continuity to maintain a smooth flow of information between customers and our technical staff
  • Carry out one to one staff meetings and periodic appraisal reviews
  • Effectively manage technical resource
  • Holiday approvals and attendance monitoring
  • Comply with the Quality Assurance and Environmental, Health & Safety policies, and work to maintain a high standard of customer service and protect the safety and health of you, your colleagues, our customers and members of the public.
  • Promptly raise any concerns regarding potential violations of the policies.
  • Any reasonable ad hoc projects requested by the company

Ideal Candidate:

  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Basic I/T – Word/Excel
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise
  • Ability to lead & support a small team
  • Process improvement / waste reduction
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Basic understanding of Quality Management Systems
  • Lean Six Sigma
  • 8D Problem Solving


Monday – Friday 37.5 hrs a week

Salary up to £30,000 plus benefits
