Job Description

An established and successful Essex based distribution business has a current excellent career opportunity for an experienced, capable and motivated Credit Control Manager to join them on a permanent basis.

​The role/responsibilities include:

  • Minimising risk whilst maximising deliveries is a pre-requisite of this position.
  • Making credit assessments, decisions and agreements on a wide variety of customers ranging from supermarkets and well-known high-street discounters to seasonal leisure operators in both the UK and Europe
  • Lead and motivate a team of four credit control staff
  • Opening new and reviewing existing credit accounts, setting credit limits and agreeing payment terms for same.
  • Negotiating and maintaining the Company’s Credit Insurance Policy, dealing with both brokers and underwriters to ensure that adequate customer limits are agreed, and any claims are paid in a timely manner.
  • Assisting the sales office with ensuring that deliveries are despatched in a timely manner and not delayed for credit control reasons.
  • Liaising with field sales personnel regarding their customers and any issues that may arise and if necessary, accompanying them on customer visits.
  • Working with customers who experience cash flow problems to ensure recovery of outstanding monies whilst preserving an ongoing relationship wherever possible.
  • Liaising with solicitors, insolvency agencies, credit status agencies and auditors as and when required.
  • This is a key position reporting directly to the Board of Directors

 

Is this you?

  • Able to demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness and relevant experience within an FMCG or similar fast-moving and diverse B2B environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Experience of managing and supporting colleagues
  • Looking for a progressive and interesting career move
  • Able to work permanently in the South East Essex area
  • A driver happy to travel between the office and customer, or other stakeholder, sites if required to conduct meetings and credit control activities.
