Buyer (Purchasing/Procurement) - Permanent/full-time opportunity

Up to £27k basic + excellent benefits

An established and successful engineering business in the Southend-On-Sea area of Essex, has a new permanent job opportunity for a Buyer with proven commercial purchasing/procurement experience (services, equipment, materials etc).

The role:

 

Within cost, quality and timescale parameters, procure any service or item designated as required by the business.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Placing of purchase orders according to SAP data regarding demand.
  • Liaise with the procurement Contracts function to negotiate long term contracts in support of the business cost reduction targets.
  • Process manual requisitions where required, verifying that all information and pricing is accurate.
  • Manage the purchase order process.
  • Identify and select suitable suppliers.
  • Expediting to maintain SAP schedule.
  • Follow procedures that support the Buying function ensuring that errors and issues are identified and corrected.
  • Establish and maintain good supplier relationships.
  • Being part of regular supplier reviews and when required visiting supplier premises both in the UK and overseas.
  • Monitor supplier performance including on time delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Produce, review and action appropriate KPIs.

 

The candidate:

 

Is this you?

 

  • Proven Purchasing/Buying experience within a busy commercial environment
  • Ideally CIPS or willing to study towards this
  • Good general IT skills including use of MS Office suite
  • Experience of using SAP would be a distinct advantage
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Good commercial awareness and numeracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Living within a reasonable commute to South East Essex
