Are you a professional Accounts Assistant looking for a part time role?

Our client is a family run business within the homeware and fashion industry with locations through out Essex.

Due to growth, we are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to work alongside the Accounts Department. 

This is a part time role, offering 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a prorated salary of £23,000 to £25,000 per year.  

Duties will include:


Purchase Ledger

  • Setting up Purchase ledger Accounts.
  • Posting invoice batches.
  • Coding of invoices/match to purchase order /seek approval as necessary.
  • Posting Employee Expenses.
  • Assisting the Accounts Supervisor with preparing weekly GBP and foreign currency payment runs.

Retail Sales

  • Importing/checking/posting sales data from Stores.
  • Assisting the Accounts Supervisor with Daily sales and Branch coin delivery reconciliations.

Bank Reconciliations

  • Daily Bank reconciliations.
  • Credit Card reconciliations.
  • Petty Cash reconciliations.
  • Posting Cashbook payments.

Other Ad-hoc duties

  • Assisting the Financial Controller with year-end audit file preparation.
  • Assist in training and mentoring the accounts apprentice.
  • The role will not be limited to these duties and will also carry out other duties within the Accounts department.

To be considered for this role the right candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working within an Accounts department in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Access Dimensions Accounting software is desirable but not essential.
  • Computer skills - essential packages: Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential to this role.
  • Ability to prioritise and handle more than one task at a time.
  • Well organised with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player with a professional and confident personality.
